Aging Adults
Support for Babyboomers and Beyond
Counseling for Babyboomers in Charlotte and Belmont
With the largest population ever of aging individuals in America, Babyboomers face special challenges.
Living longer, they worry about finances and living situations. They encounter the challenges of physical limitations and illness. Their spouses, friends and family members are dying. Depression and anxiety are common. Their children may not understand them.
Aging people often feel isolated, not knowing where to make new social connections. Cognitive impairments may contribute to paranoia, aggression and anger. Alcohol and drug abuse among the aging population is a growing problem.
Psychotherapy can help.
Sometimes the aging feel they have no one to talk to, or no one who really hears them and empathizes with their unique challenges and needs. Talk therapy can help alleviate depression and anxiety and feelings of loneliness or inadequacy.
In addition, to assist the aging, who may have transportation or mobility issues, I can make house calls to assisted living facilities to help provide needed mental health services. I also enjoy contributing to care teams to provide integrated care for the aging.
